چکیده
This paper presents a novel spatio-temporal LSTM (SPATIAL) architecture for time series forecasting applied to environmental datasets. The framework was three different ocean datasets: current speed, temperature, and dissolved oxygen. Network implementation proceeded in two directions that are nominally separated but connected as part of natural system – across the spatial (between individual sensors) temporal dimensions sensor data. Data from twenty sensors were used train model. Results compared against four baseline models: machine learning algorithms generated by robust autoML frameworks, deep neural networks based on CNN LSTM, respectively. demonstrated ability accurately replicate complex signals provide comparable performance state-of-the-art benchmarks. Learning multiple simultaneously increased robustness missing addresses fundamental challenges related applications learning: 1) data sparsity, particularly challenging environment, 2) datasets inherently while classical ML approaches only consider one these at time. Furthermore, sharing parameters all input steps makes SPATIAL fast, scalable, easily-parameterized framework. • A spatiotemporal forecasting. We present experimental results AutoML models. Disease evolution across a range of spatio-temporal scales.
Traditional explorations of infectious disease evolution have considered the competition between two cross-reactive strains within the standard framework of disease models. Such techniques predict that diseases should evolve to be highly transmissible, benign to the host and possess a long infectious period: in general, diseases do not conform to this ideal. Here we consider a more holistic app...
متن کاملTemporal and Spatial Scales
H uman activities have degraded substantial portions of the nation’s ecological resources, including physical and biological aquatic systems. The effects are continuing and cumulative, and few high-quality aquatic ecosystems remain in the United States. Concern about these diminishing resources has resulted in numerous restoration programs. Some are well conceived and address complex ecosystem ...
متن کاملOptimal measurement of visual motion across spatial and temporal scales
Sensory systems use limited resources to mediate the perception of a great variety of objects and events. Here a normative framework is presented for exploring how the problem of efficient allocation of resources can be solved in visual perception. Starting with a basic property of every measurement, captured by Gabor’s uncertainty relation about the location and frequency content of signals, p...
متن کاملA Survey of Spatial, Temporal and Spatio-temporal Data Mining
Spatio-temporal data sets are often very large and difficult to analyze and display. Since they are fundamental for decision support in many application contexts, recently a lot of interest has arisen toward data-mining techniques to filter out relevant subsets of very large data repositories as well as visualization tools to effectively display the results. In this paper we propose a data-mini...
متن کاملSpatial and spatio-temporal patterns in a cell-haptotaxis model.
We investigate a cell-haptotaxis model for the generation of spatial and spatio-temporal patterns in one dimension. We analyse the steady state problem for specific boundary conditions and show the existence of spatially hetero-geneous steady states. A linear analysis shows that stability is lost through a Hopf bifurcation. We carry out a nonlinear multi-time scale perturbation procedure to stu...
